i'm starting a new thread sowe can talk details.
i think 2/11 is do-able.
i like the idea of meeting at the 3 dollar bill. but i don't wanna conflict with the faeries. a lot of them are also gay/bi single polys.
what about 2 pm?
should we reserve a room in case we get too big for the cafe? they cost $25 and up. (i imagine we could pass the hat...)
please gimme some feedback. i'll contact the center tomorrow.

Re: details about gay/bi poly gathering
Wed, January 18, 2006 - 2:31 PMI vote for 3:30-4:00 as a start time, personally. Anyone else?
Don't know about the room. Perhaps see how many people express a likelihood of attending here? -

Re: details about gay/bi poly gathering
Wed, January 18, 2006 - 3:21 PMi don't mind doing it later. just don't wanna conflict with dinner-type plans. i was thinking it'd be scheduled for 2 hours.
1.5 for discussion, .5 for mingling. of course the mingling could go on longer, but i think it's important to schedule some time for it.

Re: details about gay/bi poly gathering
Thu, January 19, 2006 - 10:33 PMchazz brings up a tricky subject. this gathering is intended for gay/bi men only. (btw, i don't distinguish between transmen and bio-men. as far as i'm concerned we're all men.) maybe if this takes off there will be a time for female partners to attend, but this first gathering is just for the guys.
is there some minimally offensive way to make this clear? or am i worried for no reason? an argument about the validity of "men-only" space at the event is my worst fear.

Re: details about gay/bi poly gathering
Thu, January 19, 2006 - 11:12 PMi think if you make yer audience clear and you do not make judgements if people self-id as men then all will be fine.
you are gonna meet in a public cafe, so you will have to deal with women being around, btw...

Re: details about gay/bi poly gathering
Thu, January 19, 2006 - 11:30 PMThats true in a public place their prescence will be known and seen. But personally I think that if you make it gender specific for now that shouild not be a problem. My partner actually encoraged me to join this tribe and go to gatherings. Being poly means understanding and respectfulness. so with that said i think female or male counterparts for that matter will do just that. Thats part of how and why we become poly after all.
By the way what time on the 11th i have school in Emmeryvill on Saturdays til 545 thats why i ask.

Re: details about gay/bi poly gathering
Fri, January 20, 2006 - 4:03 PMWE'RE ON!
The 3 dollar bill cafe has okayed our meeting there on Saturday, 2/11/06 from 4-6 pm. I have a call in to get the details of a room in case there are too many. <drool: too many poly guys...>
Can we put a group of guys to spearhead this? I really can't do it on my own. -

Re: details about gay/bi poly gathering
Sat, January 21, 2006 - 12:23 PMLOL, right, what a problem to have. What means this "too many" of which you speak?
You've been rockin' it so far, but there's no reason all the responsibility has to fall on one person. What else needs to be done? I'm interested to help where I can. -

Re: details about gay/bi poly gathering
Tue, January 24, 2006 - 2:03 PMi was thinking that we oughta rent a room in case we get more than 25-30. it'll cost about $80.
but the cafe could handle 25 people. so now i think we should let it be. if we have a big response we can talk about doing it again in a bigger place.
i think we need a kick-ass flyer designed. if it was a pdf file maybe a group of us could print off a few and put them up.
the gathering is listed on the leather and poly schedules. now we need to get it to the queer papers. does anybody have any contacts? what else? -

Re: details about gay/bi poly gathering
Tue, January 24, 2006 - 2:43 PMzak, put an ad blurb up here and ask folks to list it to their friends and relevant tribes. when i put out a listing directing people to the thread on here about you wanting to have a gathering about 20 new guys joined this tribe.
